Hey guys! I have here the first piece of Fatal Hearts fanfiction every written and posted on this forum!!! Yaaaay! It takes place after Ending 8: A Hopeful future, which is the ending where Katie and Bastien are reunited. This is mainly a Christina x Randy fanfic. Smile It's probably totally inaccurate and cheesy, but bear with me. I worked hard on it. T^T

***
“I want to thank you for bringing Kirstin to me.”

I couldn’t say that I wasn’t awkward, sitting in the luxurious dining room of a vampire, who currently sat eating what seemed to be roast chicken and wild rice. I fiddled with my food, not exactly sure if I should eat or not. Randy and Lucy sat next to me on either side, and Katie was sitting across the table, wearing a gorgeous white dress that Bastian had brought down for her.

Katie was still a bit weak. Sebastian had yet to use his vampire powers to save her life. I wasn’t exactly sure how he would do it, but I didn’t ask for fear that I might find out something grisly. However, Katie seemed genuinely happy, sitting next to him and looking more like a princess than any of the ones I had seen in storybooks. Her smile was wider than I had ever seen, her cheeks were actually flushing a modest pink, as if her health was regaining just by being near her long-lost love.

“So…Randall, was it?” Sebastian spoke across the table to Randy, who dropped his fork from surprise. His fear of Bastian hadn’t exactly been put to rest just yet.

“Errr…yessir,” he said quickly.

“Please, no need to be so formal,” Sebastian assured him. “Call me Bastian. After all, I assume that very soon we shall be brothers, am I right Kirstin? Oh, I should call you by your new name. Katherine, was it?”

Katie smiled warmly at Bastian, and he returned the gaze. The two of them really looked genuinely in love. It was hard to believe that they had just met a few hours ago.

But how much had happened in those few hours? Bastian had broken up the cult, and on Katie’s plea, had alerted the police of their wrong-doings. Bastian himself believed that they had gone too far trying to find Kirstin. Katie would have never wanted them to kill all those innocent girls, and Bastian made sure they were punished for their crimes.

Lucy was going to stay with me. I planned to break the news to my mother that night: the Torvills were actually felons and Lucy had to stay with us now. It would certainly be a shock to her. I hadn’t exactly formulated what I was going to say. Maybe I should get the police to back me up, have one of the officers explain what was going on.

“So, Randall,” Bastian began again after his and Katie’s long loving stare.

“Randy’s fine,” Randy said.

“Right…Randy, then,” Bastian said. I could tell he wasn’t used to casual nicknames, being formerly of nobility. “I hope that there is no more bad blood between us. The wolfriemen did indeed wrong me many years ago, but I’m willing to put it all behind me for the sake of my future.”

“If I remember correctly, you weren’t exactly a spectacular leader.” Randy’s eyes narrowed, and the table went silent. “Your cult’s been running wild right under your nose, haven’t they?”

Crap, don’t start this now Randy. Please not now. If only I could use my Sight to be telepathic and tell Randy to apologize quickly and shut up. Didn’t he realize that he was crossing words with a vampire?!

“I suppose you’re right.”

All of us looked up at Bastian to see his ice blue eyes looking at his food. “There are things I wish I had done differently. Many things. For a long time, I blamed others for my failings. The truth is, Liebchen,” he turned to Katie and squeezed her hand, “if I had never left your side, you never would have been killed. But I blamed everyone but myself. I wasn’t ready to admit that…in part…I was responsible for your death.”

“None of that matters now,” Katie assured him. “The world is a lot more peaceful now. And I’m sure the Wolfriemen,” she looked at Randy, “will be willing to end the fighting.”

Randy narrowed his eyes, and I looked at him. Katie meant the world to him, and now that she was happy and was going to live, he was struggling with overcoming the hate that had festered within him for so long. He looked down at his food, and I did the only thing I could think of.

I reached my hand under the table and squeezed his. He looked up at me, and I smiled at him. I could see Lucy out of the corner of my eye looking at the two of us. She was probably concerned about him too.

“Hey Randy, maybe we should go home,” I suggested, smiling at him. “I’ve got a lot of explaining to do to my Mom, and you probably do to. And Bastian has to help Katie, and the two of them might want to be alone tonight.”

“No, I want to watch what he does when he cures Katie,” Randy said, a determined look in his eye. “I’m sorry Bastian, but I don’t completely trust you. I just can’t leave Katie here.”

“Randy…” Katie murmured, but Bastian put his hand on her shoulder and shook his head. She quieted and Bastian looked up at Randy and smiled.

“You’re exactly the same.” Huh? Lucy, Randy, and I all looked surprised. I wanted to know what he was talking about. “Rainer.”

Wait…I was starting to get it now. “Are you saying that Randy was Katie’s brother in your past lives?”

“Yes, Rainer, the younger brother of my beloved, who never seemed to like me,” Bastian laughed deeply, and Randy frowned. “I eventually ran away with Liebchen, and Rainer never forgave me.”

Katie nodded, “I remember now. I guess you were always meant to be my annoying little brother, eh Randy?” Randy blushed, and she began to laugh. But her laughs quickly turned into coughs, and we were all startled as we saw her double over in a coughing fit. She wasn’t strong enough for this.

“She has to lie down!” Randy said immediately, running over to her side and picking her up in his arms. “This was way too stressful for her.”

“Randy…” I murmured, reaching out to him.

“Please,” Bastian said, putting out his arms. We all looked at him, knowing what he wanted. But Randy didn’t budge. “Let me.” Randy shook his head violently.

“No. I don’t trust you.”

Bastian sighed. He walked over to a china cabinet filled with expensive cutlery and opened the glass doors. He took out what seemed to be an antique knife and turned around to face us.

“Oh no,” Lucy murmured to me, grabbing my arm. My eyes went wide. He wasn’t…he wasn’t going to come after us with that knife was he?

“Don’t come any closer!” Randy stepped in front of me, still clutching Katie, who by this time was barely conscious. “I knew you couldn’t be trusted! You were planning to kill her all along, weren’t y—“

Bastian slit his wrist with the knife, and we all gasped. Lucy and I shrieked slightly, and Randy nearly dropped Katie from surprise. But Bastian seemed completely unaffected as the blood ran from his wrist. He went over to Randy, who was still in shock.

“Let this gift bind our fate to joy, Liebchen,” he murmured.

He began to speak some sort of chant that I couldn’t understand, and I could feel the aura of the room becoming darker and darker. I was scared, and so was Lucy. Randy was trying to protect Katie, but Bastian’s magic was overcoming all of us. We could barely move from the heavy aura surrounding us. What was going on? Some sort of ritual?

Bastian put his wrist to Katie’s mouth, and she smiled. She began to lick the flowing blood, swallowing it with the last of the strength she had left. But as she continued to drink, she gained more and more vitality.

But all of us could see what was happening to her. Her skin was turning a pale white, her teeth were slowly transforming into fangs, and her hair was darkening until it was a mauve color.

She was becoming a vampire.

Her tongue pressed the wound and the bleeding stopped. She steadied herself and put her feet on the ground. The three of us were looking on in disbelief, but we all knew what had happened. Katie’s life had been saved. She was alive…forever.

“What…what…” Randy was trying to formulate a question. I could feel the aura of the room lifting. The ritual was over. Katie ran to Bastian and embraced him, crying.

“Oh my love…” she murmured and Bastian held her close, stroking her hair. Lucy, Randy, and I could only look on disbelief. Katie eventually turned to Randy and smiled.

“Thank you Randy…you saved me. I owe everything to you.”

But Randy wasn’t listening. I was behind him, but I could see the silent shaking of his shoulders. His fists were clenched, but not from anger. I put my hand on his shoulder and moved to get a good look at his face.

Tears were running down his face.

“Katie! Oh my God, Katie!” He ran forward and embraced her tightly, still shaking with tears. “You’re not going to die!”

I couldn’t help it. I was crying too, and so was Lucy. It was a bit bittersweet. After all, until Bastian and Katie ran themselves through with stakes, they would live forever, which couldn’t be appealing. But at the same time, Katie’s life was saved, and she would be with her beloved forever.

“You’re a good man, Randy,” Bastian said, stepping forward. Randy wiped the tears off of his face, trying to look macho in front of his future older-brother-in law. “If it wasn’t for you…and for Christina and Lucy, this never would have come to pass.”

“Us?” Lucy asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes,” Bastian nodded. “Christina, your soul must be very close to Kirstin’s. I think that’s why she chose you to interpret her dreams. Your psychic powers proved invaluable. And Lucy, your belief in Christina’s words led to Kirstin being brought to my address. I knew we would be good friends.”

“You kids should get home,” Katie said, as if dismissing us. “Randy’s got a lot of explaining to do to my parents. Randy, I’ll call them in the morning. You do have a phone, don’t you Bastian?”

“Oh yes. One of those boxes with the numbers on it. I never used it myself, but I’m eager to learn.”

“I’ll call them and invite them over,” Katie assured Randy. “And I’ll explain everything. You should probably explain everything to Tim and your other friends.”

Randy nodded. I sighed. There was so much explaining to do. My Mom would never believe me if I told her the truth. But I wasn’t comfortable lying to her anymore. What was I going to do?

But my problems were nothing compared to Lucy’s and Randy’s. Lucy had lost her parents and her home in one night. Not only that, but her parents had turned out to be evil murderers who only had her to serve them and their cult. Now I was all she had left.

And as for Randy, he had saved his sister and ended the war between the cult and the wolfriemen, but he had to explain everything to his parents. And he couldn’t lie to them either. He had to tell them everything, including that their daughter was now a vampire living with another vampire and would live forever if she felt like it.

“Christina?” Randy said, and I turned around. “I’m sorry to ask…but can I stay the night at your place? I’m supposed to be sleeping over at Tim’s, but I can’t face him or my parents right now. I just don’t know what to say. I need a bit of time to work things out.”

“I’ll…I’ll have to ask my Mom,” I said. “But she won’t mind.” I didn’t mention how much my Mom liked Randy (and mainly for his money). “After all, you’ve had a rough night. Lucy’s staying over too.”

“Do you need any help getting home?” Bastian asked. “I have a “Ford” parked in the woods for emergencies. I don’t exactly know what it does, but I’m sure I could learn relatively quickly. I have the key right here.” He pulled a power-lock out of his pocket. “But I still have no idea what kind of keyhole this is supposed to fit in. I’ve spent far too much time sleeping inside my house. Perhaps I should get a…”television”.”

“That’s okay,” Randy said, pulling out his wolf’s belt. “I can take us home.”

“What’s that?” Lucy asked. I wasn’t in the mood to tell her right now. She would find out soon enough anyway.

“Goodbye Randy,” Katie reached up and kissed her little brother on the forehead, which was tough, considering he was about a head taller than her. “See you soon, okay? Please come visit whenever you want.”

“I hope to see you all again,” said Bastian very genuinely. I smiled at him, and he returned the smile. He wasn’t bad at all. I’m really glad that we had been able to work everything out.

***
“Holy crap!” Lucy panted as we reached my house. “What the hell was that? We ran at super speed! It should have taken us an hour to get back here! It’s been like ten minutes!”

“Err…I’ll explain later, okay?” Randy said. “Well, goodnight.”

“Aren’t you staying?” I asked. He nodded.

“I’m sleeping outside tonight,” he told me, and I looked at him, slightly concerned. “I need to think, and I think best outside.”

I watched Randy go towards my backyard, and couldn’t help but feel concerned for him. So much had happened to him. What in the world was he thinking right now? I didn’t want him to be alone, but I also didn’t want to discourage him from doing what would make him feel comfortable.

“Are you coming?” Lucy asked. I turned to face her and nodded. The two of us went into the house to explain everything to my Mother.

***
After many hours and many tears later, everything had been explained. Lucy’s parents were currently in police custody. The overwhelming evidence against them couldn’t be covered up no matter how much money the Torvills threw at the police. Lucy would probably be taken by social workers into a foster home if we didn’t offer to take care of her. Mom, who was crying and holding Lucy and me, said that Lucy was always welcome here and sent the two of us to bed.

We lay in my bed, talking about all that had happened that day. But my mind kept drifting off to Randy who was probably outside, staring up at the moon and trying to piece his life back together.

“Christina, are you listening?” Lucy snapped, and I shook my head.

“I’m sorry Lucy. I’m just worried about Randy.”

Lucy narrowed her eyes, “Are you two together or what?”

That was the question, wasn’t it? We weren’t officially “together”, but I couldn’t help but remember that time when Randy had suddenly pulled me into his arms, breathing into my ear and smelling my hair. We were definitely more than friends…but I didn’t exactly know how to describe our relationship.

“We’re not together,” I said. “I…I think Randy likes me…but…”

“But you don’t like him?” Lucy asked suddenly. I shook my head.

“I’m not sure how I feel. Everything’s happening so fast. He’s so fragile right now…I can’t even imagine what he’s going through.”

“He’s not the only one,” Lucy muttered, turning away from me and pulling the covers over her shoulder.

“Lucy, c’mon,” I said. “I know how tough things are for you. We’re best friends, aren’t we? It’s not like I’m ditching you for Randy.”

“I…I know,” she admitted and she gave a great sigh. “Thanks for everything Christina.” She turned to me and smiled. “We’ll always be best friends, won’t we?”

“You bet,” I told her, smiling widely. She smiled back, and the two of us settled down for sleep. I could use a good night’s sleep after all that had happened over the past few days…

***
I thought the dreams would stop now that Kirstin and Sebastian had been reunited. But I was wrong. There was one more dream to have.

I was Kirstin again…but this time, I was much more detached from the dream. It wasn’t about me and Sebastien…so who could it be about?

“Hello there Rainer, is Kirs—“

SLAM!

“Rainer! You will open this door this instant! I am Lord Sebastian of--”

“You’re Lord Sebastian of Get the Hell Away from My Sister! I don’t know what the hell you’re trying to pull but you can go stick your noble sword up your—“

“Rainer…are you giving Sebastian a hard time again?”

“Liebchen?”

“Darling,” I opened the door and shook her head. “You shouldn’t use your title to get my brother to open the door. He’s not your slave. And he’s been kind enough to keep our relationship a secret, hasn’t he?”

“Only because I’m too disgusted with it to tell anyone,” he said. “Kirstin, you’re just going to get hurt, you know that! This guy’s nothing but trouble! What’s the Lord Son of the Valley doing knocking on the doors of people like us?”

“I’m going out with Sebastian,” I said simply. “Don’t tell anyone. It’s a S.E.C.R.E.T.”

“Have her back by sunset or I’ll gut you,” Rainer growled at Sebastian, who simply narrowed his eyes and took my hand in his own. We only made Rainer more angry as we continued to get closer, holding each other’s waist and leaning our heads on each other.

“Disgusting…”

“Rainer? Rainer!”

Rainer looked outside to see my good friend, Christel, running towards him, basket in hand, her skirt in her other hand. She was barefoot, and berries were stuffed in her basket. “Rainer, I’ve got berries! Here, have some. My mother handpicked them herself! Where’s Kirstin?”

“Out,” he said simply, and went in, silently inviting Christel to enter. “Thanks for the berries Christel.”

“I owe it to you and your sister,” she said simply. “Your sister’s been very kind to me.”

Rainer looked at Christel as she picked a few berries out of the basket and nibbled on them daintily. “Let’s eat these outside,” he said, showing off his characteristic grin for the first time that day. He was in a considerable better mood. Christel smiled at him and grabbed the basket of berries.

The two walked outside to the grassy area surrounding the home. Christel sat down and Rainer sat down next to her, lying out on the grass and staring at the blue sky above them. “Don’t you want some?” Christel asked.

“Not really,” he shook his head, smiling at Christel. “I just like having lunch with you.”

“Are you all right?” Christel asked him, and he flinched. So she had seen right through him. “I’m worried about you. You don’t seem like your usual self lately.”

Rainer sighed. He couldn’t tell Christel everything. He had promised Kirstin to keep the relationship between her and Sebastian a secret. But at the same time, he didn’t want to lie to Christel. “Kirstin’s been getting into trouble lately. I’m worried about her. She thinks she’s ‘in love’, but I’m afraid the guy’s just going to hurt her in the end.”

Christel nodded, and lied down next to Rainer. “We don’t have any other family,” Rainer said. “I can’t bare the thought of losing her. What if, one day, she just runs off with him and forgets all about me?”

“She’d never do that,” Christel assured him, putting her hand on his arm reassuringly. He liked the touch and sighed. “Kirstin loves you very much.”

“If I don’t have her, my life would fall apart,” he said. “I’ve spent my entire life looking after her. I just want to make sure she’s happy.”

“No.”

He looked up as Christel frowned at him. “No, that’s not true. You’re upset because Kirstin’s going to leave you for another man. You’re only thinking of yourself Rainer. What if Kirstin is truly happy with her new loved one? You’re just afraid of being without her.”

Rainer narrowed his eyes. He was extremely angry. He stood up violently and kicked over the basket of berries. “Why don’t you just get out of here?!” he shouted, and Christel looked up at him as he glowered menacingly at her. “What the hell would you understand anyway?!”

“Haven’t you ever thought of creating a new life for yourself?” Christel asked desperately. “Everything you’ve done is for Kirstin! Don’t you understand that other people care for y--“ She slapped her hand over her mouth and looked down at the grass where the berries were strewn out around her. She stood up and picked up her basket. Rainer looked at her, curious, but confused. “Forget it,” she said, shaking her head.

Was she just going to walk away? She turned around and began to walk in the other direction. No! She had feelings for Rainer, and Rainer cared for her too. But here she was, walking away, and Rainer was letting her, all because he couldn’t cope that Kirstin was falling in love.

***
I woke up and shook my head, as if trying to get the dream out of my mind. But I remembered every detail vividly. Lucy slept soundly next to me, so I carefully got out of bed and looked out the window. There was Randy, still awake and staring at the moon in my back yard.

The girl in my dream had looked and sounded undoubtedly like me. Maybe Bastian was right. I had been a close friend of Kirstin’s in a past life…and the boy that I had loved had been her little brother.

But we had let each other go.

Maybe Bastian and Katie weren’t the only ones getting second chances.

***
“Randy…?”

Randy looked up at me, surprised. I had a blanket in my arms, and I held it out to him. “You’ll catch cold if you stay out here in nothing but that crop-top of yours,” I joked, and he smiled.

“Hey! It’s not a crop-top! It’s a tank-top! There’s a difference!”

“It shows off your tummy,” I said, sitting down next to him and putting the blanket over both of us. “It’s a crop-top.”

A bit of silence passed between us as we stared up at the stars. I broke my trance with the stars to stare at Randy. “Randy?”

“Hmm?” he asked, still looking up at the sky.

“What…are you thinking?”

He sighed, shaking his head. “It’s just…tough. Katie thinks she’s in love. But she doesn’t know anything about that guy. I don’t know if I buy all this “past love” stuff…but…well…”

“Katie seems really convinced,” I reminded him. “She seems truly happy with Bastian.”

“I’m just afraid she’s going to end up getting hurt. I’ve taken care of her ever since she got sick. I’d fall apart if anything happened to her,” he said, and my stomach turned as I felt the conversation get extremely familiar. “I just don’t want to see her get hurt…”

I was silent, even though I knew what Christel – what I wanted to say. It was the same as before. Randy was being selfish. He was upset that Katie was leaving him for Bastian. But…at the same time, could I blame him?

Maybe that’s what Christel hadn’t realized – what it felt like to be Rainer. He would be losing his only family, the person he cared the most about. How could he not be upset about that?

And so, instead of telling him off, I put my hand on his shoulder, and he finally turned to face me. “It must be tough…seeing your sister move on.”

He smiled at me, and lay down on the grass. I lay down with him, staring up at the stars. “I guess that’s what it comes down to,” he said, sighing. “I’m just being selfish. I want to keep Katie all to myself, taking care of her. Now she’s grown up…no time for Randy anymore.”

“That’s not true,” I told him. “Katie loves you very much. I can tell. I know a bit about people leaving…”

“What do you mean?”

“My dad left me and my Mom when I was just a kid,” I told him, narrowing my eyes up at the sky. “I don’t know why he did…or at least, all the reasons didn’t make sense to me. But in the end, I guess he just didn’t love me and Mom enough to stay.”

Randy and I didn’t say anything for a short time. Then, suddenly, Randy put his arm around my waist and held me close to him. I didn’t object. I didn’t tell him I had to go home. I already was home. I felt more at home now than I had in awhile.

Randy was nuzzling my neck, and his warmth in combination with the blanket made me feel like I was back in my nice warm bed with Lucy. He pulled back and smiled at me. “Well…then he was an idiot.” And then he kissed me.

***
Bastian and Katie had a private wedding in their own backyard. Randy, was Bastian’s best man (as all of his old friends were now dead or arrested) and Katie had actually chosen me and Lucy as bridesmaids. I couldn’t help but cry at the wedding, it was just too beautiful. Katie had invited all of her friends, and Randy’s entire extremely rich family was there as well.

Lucy and I had become even closer now that we’re living together. Lucy’s living in my room, and she’s gotten her own bed. It’s like we’re practically sisters. Meanwhile, Randy and I have been going steady for a few months now. At first, Lucy didn’t like the idea, but she warmed up to it after awhile.

“There they go,” Randy sighed as the happy bride and groom left the reception for their limo. The vampire couple was going to Germany for their honeymoon. They were taking the red eye (of course), and were spending a few weeks in Bastian’s and Kirstin’s country of origin. “What if they never come back?”

“Then we’ll party for four weeks in their giant house,” I joked. Randy laughed, but I could tell it was a bit hollow. He was seriously worried. “Of course they’re coming back. Don’t be silly.”

Randy didn’t answer me. I looked down at my Bridesmaid’s dress, lavender and offsetting my hair nicely, and I looked at Randy, wearing a stunning black tuxedo with his hair slicked back. I didn’t want to waste this finely dressed moment.

“Dance with me?” I asked, reaching out my hand. He looked at me, frowning.

“There’s no music playing,” he said. True, the band had left hours ago. Mostly now we were just cleaning up.

“Doesn’t matter,” I said, shrugging, my hand still outreached. He looked at it, and then flashed one of those goofy smiles I’ve come to love so dearly. He took me in his arms and we swayed back and forth. “Don’t forget,” I said to him quietly and we danced. “There are other people who care about you too.”

“Man Christina,” he laughed, pressing his cheek to mine. “It’s like you always know exactly what to say.”

“Well, I get a little help,” I smiled at him. “Let’s just say that this is our second chance to get things right.”

Well...yeah...there it is. Take it or leave it. Smile

Awww, what a great story. I loved that you made a story based on my favorite ending. Smile

Now I'm inspired to try to write some FH fanfiction. Wink

I liked it. But, it would have been better if it was a Christina/Randy/Lucy trio thing. Maybe I'll write one like that oneday.^_^

@Nebo Hibiki:

Nope. This is one of the characters from another game here-Charm School. In particular, this is Alice and she's a magic wielder. Smile
